Bob Busacca was appointed vice president of engineering in 2020, where he is responsible for the design of the Enovix 3D cell assembly, constraint system, interconnects, packaging, and cell protection. After joining Enovix in 2014, he served as senior director of mechanical engineering responsible for mechanical design of the cell. In 2017, he led the team that developed the Enovix novel cell stacking and assembly processes and implemented the pilot line equipment for cell production.
Prior to joining Enovix, Bob was senior director of R&D at Freeslate—a spin-off from Symyx Technologies—where he led the engineering, software and chemistry groups. At Symyx, Bob was director of mechanical engineering and oversaw the product development of the company’s lab automation platform. He also served two years in Geneva, Switzerland, where he led a team of 20 engineers developing the third-generation automation platform for the pharmaceutical and petrochemical industries. Bob earned a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Cornell University. He is a named inventor on 18 patents.
